Self-Storage Development

Pacific Union Land Company has identified self-storage as an area for the company’s future growth and has approached the industry with a focus and diligence reminiscent of its entry into single-family home-building and land development over 25 years ago. By applying its core competencies of sourcing properties in locations with favorable demand, securing entitlements and managing the construction and property-management functions, Pacific Union is currently developing a portfolio of self-storage properties in the Greater Bay Area and Northern California and opened its first such property in 2018 in Brentwood (Contra Costa County).

StorQuest Self Storage/Brentwood is an 89,000 square foot self-storage facility, with 632 ground floor units, located in Brentwood, CA. Pacific Union Land Company identified the property as a self-storage site despite previous efforts to market and develop it as a commercial office/industrial park. The PULC-sponsored entity that acquired the site successfully secured the project entitlements in 2016 and began construction in early 2017. The facility opened in January 2018, offering a variety of state-of-the-art features including electronic gate access, round the clock digital surveillance, flexible month-to-month leases, and online leasing and bill payment. The facility is managed under the StorQuest brand name by The William Warren Group (WWG); A leading developer, owner and manager in the self-storage industry. WWG was founded in 1994, currently owns and manages a portfolio of over 130 properties in 12 states across the United States and was recently ranked 9th in the industry and 3rd largest privately-owned owner/manager based on number of units and rentable square footage.
